Get inspired for your self-growth

As individuals, we tend to approach obstacles in two ways, we either stop in our tracks or are forced to get creative and continue to push, while remaining laser-focused on our goals.

If you fall into the latter category, then this new paradigm presents a perfect opportunity for you to focus on capability building - taking advantage of the myriad of online courses, so that you may up-skill or re-skill for a future ready workforce.

Find inspiration

Personally, when I need some inspiration I reflect on the 5A’s. If you’re not familiar, the 5A’s, taken from the book, Beyond Performance, is an amazing framework to guide our attitudes and behaviours.

It provides a structure for you to start thinking through how to progress towards your goals by answering the following questions:

  1. * Aspire: Where do we want to go?

  2. * Assess: How ready are we to go there?
  3. * Architect: What must we do to get there?
  4. * Act: How do we manage the journey? Avoid analysis paralysis.
  5. * Advance: How do we continue to improve?

Dig deep

It’s a unique time and also a difficult time for us all, but try to remember that you have the will and the power to achieve. One of the greatest tennis players of all times, Roger Federer, shares an important lesson for just about anyone.

Your career isn’t going to be all sunshine and rainbows. There will be challenges to work through, there will be failed projects and tough decisions to make. But if you continue to work hard, learn from mistakes, and be willing to accept challenges, you too will find success.

I recently heard the following at a virtual seminar I attended on self-improvement and it has resonated with me since. It is:  “Life is the C between B and D... B stands for birth, D stands for Death, C stands for choice." Today, we are fortunate to have the power of choice. These times can define us, develop up or diminish us. We are responsible for our lives so make the most of all the moments - whether good or bad.
